This sounds like typical nu metal, except for the wah riff (maybe it’s not wah though, but I don’t know shit about playing electric guitars yet). Seriously, I didn’t even bother to listen to the whole song, I just skipped the song a couple of times (and landed on the chorus all the time). What did that allmusic critic find in this? And the commenters… Dumb as ever. “Classic”? “Nineties”? Wake up, this is a 2002 single - that’s six and a half years ago.
That “Genius” song sounds better, though these “dysfunction is a function” (or something) lyrics are pretty dumb. I guess the synths make it more interesting, because it’s the same verse/chorus structure repeated a few times, and with little variety in the verses anyway.
In both cases, the videos are cliched, boring, same as any other nu metal band’s. SWAT teams, green and red tint, saturation, the group performs - oops, I meant to say “the singer performs and makes scary faces while the other band members barely bother”. Yawn. Zeromancer got boring after a while, but at least their “Doctor Online” video is not what everyone else does over and over again. Yeah, I might have missed a few things. So what? I don’t want to sit through another nu metal music video, what about you?
Maybe I should give them a try, but I have half a gigabyte left. Time to take out the garbage?
